Difficult Performance Conversations – Micro-Training for Managers
Performance problems usually grow not because they are unknown, but because they are never discussed. Grupas' "Difficult Performance Conversations" micro-training helps managers understand why they avoid tough conversations, express expectations clearly and measurably, and deliver difficult feedback without escalating defensiveness. With an approach built on clarity + structure + preserving human dignity, the program concludes with each manager creating their own personalized "Performance Conversation Flow Template".
The training is delivered as a 60-minute micro format or a 90-minute hands-on format (including role play). The content covers expectation clarity based on the SMART principle, a 5-step difficult feedback model (define the situation – state the observed behavior – explain its impact – clarify the expectation – agree on a solution) and role-play exercises with real-life scenarios. The methodology consists of interactive facilitation, case analysis, role play, template design and group reflection. The recommended group size is 8–16 participants.
